Children’s skin is more delicate than adults and can get irritated easily, so it is important to properly care for it. My son is a redhead and has always had sensitive skin, so I have learned ways to make sure that his skin is well protected. I also reached out to some MomCo moms to see what tips and products they use to protect their child’s skin. Some of them are below.
Most kids have sensitive skin, my son included, so it is important to use soaps that won’t cause irritation. One great option is Dr. Bronner’s Baby Unscented Pure-Castile Liquid Soap. It contains no fragrance and replaces it with double the olive oil, so it is great for people with allergies or sensitive skin. Another great option is Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser which is fragrance-free and non-comedogenic.
A gentle moisturizer to soothe, soften and seal in moisture should be an essential part of your child’s skin care. I have done this since my son was a baby. Some great options are Aveeno Baby Daily Moisture Lotion and Babyganics Extra Gentle Moisturizing Daily Lotion.
I remember when my son would get diaper rashes. I felt so bad because I could just see how much pain he was in. Once you see signs of a diaper rash, make sure that you are changing diapers frequently to make sure that your child is clean and dry. Diaper creams can usually clear up diaper rashes within a few days. The favorite diaper creams amongst the MomCo moms we talked to were Boudreaux’s Butt Paste Diaper Rash Ointment Skin Protectant and Aquaphor Baby Diaper Rash Cream.
I love spending time outdoors with my son. As I mentioned, he is a redhead, so protecting him from the sun is always at the top of my mind. The sun is at its strongest from 10am to 4pm, so try to limit exposure during those times. I know that is not always possible, so here are some tips and products to help protect your child’s skin from the sun.
We hope some of these tips and products help you care for your child’s skin. If you have any other products that you would recommend, please CLICK HERE to Join The Conversation in the MomCo forum. You can also check out some other tips and products that the MomCo moms recommended!
