I am a Mom. How do I create an account?
There are two ways to create an account: Facebook and email.
Facebook is the easiest way to register because you will automatically be verified and have immediate access to MomCo. MomCo will only post to your Facebook if you request to share it.
If you choose to create an account with email, there will be a wait time and there are more steps in the process to be verified.
What is the verification process?
We are trying to make MomCo the safest platform as possible for moms. More information about this is provided below:
Facebook registration – People must include their sex when they sign up for a Facebook account. When moms register for MomCo with their Facebook account, the app checks their sex related to their Facebook account. If it is female, the registration process continues automatically and moms can set up their profile instantly.
Email registration – We use facial recognition technology to verify the person’s sex. The automated system needs a clear picture (not too dark, person needs to be looking forward, etc). The system also checks the GPS location of the mom to make sure she’s in a country where MomCo is available (US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, SA). It is very important that the mom grant’s access to their phone’s camera and GPS. If the system cannot process the selfie automatically or the GPS location is missing, the mom will receive an email with instructions on how to fix the situation and get verified. This process can take more time, so we suggest using Facebook registration.
How do I edit my profile?
Go to your profile (the icon is on the bottom menu.) From there, tap on the three dots in the top right corner. Choose “Edit Your Profile.”
How do I add a child or edit my child’s information?
To add or edit your children’s information, go to your profile. From there, tap on the three dots in the top right corner. Choose “Edit Your Profile.” Under “Your Kids, edit the info. When you press “Submit,” it automatically saves.
What information is viewable to other moms?
Mom’s can set their profile to “Private” or “Public.” You can set this by going to your “Settings” and clicking on “Public” or “Private”
Private Profile – They can only see the information that is on the “Find Moms” page. If you input all of the information into your profile, then they will be able to see:
If they want to see additional information, then they will need to send you a friend request.
Public Profile – They will be able to see all of the information on the “Find Moms” page and will be able to open your profile. On your profile, they will be able to see:
How do I contact a mom that I am interested in connecting with?
From the “Moms” list, click on her name to open her profile.
If the mom’s profile is set to private, then hit “Request Connection with Mom.” The mom will need to accept your request before you can view her entire profile and message her.
If the mom’s profile is set to public, you can send a message to her, by pressing “Message” and typing out your message.
How do I find a particular mom?
There are a few ways to find a particular mom.
How do I favorite a mom?
Click on the outlined heart in the mom. Once you favorite them, the heart will be filled in. You can view favorited moms, by going to your “Profile” screen and pressing the “My Favorites” button.
I downloaded the app in a different city than I live in. The app says that is the city that I live in. (i.e. I downloaded in San Francisco and I live in Los Angeles.) How do I change that?
When you set up your account, the account will update based on GPS. You can change this by editing your profile. Go to “Profile” and click the three dots in the top right corner. Choose “Edit Your Profile.” Under “Location” – You can choose to set your location by selecting “Update from your GPS” or updating the zip code. Changes will be automatically saved.
How do I set up a play date?
Press “Play dates”. Click “Create a New Play Date” in the top of the screen. Put in all of the pertinent information. You can make a play date private or public. You can also invite moms to play dates. Moms are able to favorite your playdate, comment on it, and join it.
How do I join an existing play date?
Press “Play dates.” There will be the choices “Accept” or “Maybe”. Click the response that applies to you. You can also comment on the playdate if you would like. You can also view the people that are already attending.
How do I start a forum post?
Press forum on home screen. Click “Create New Post” in the top. Moms are able to favorite your post or comment on it.
How do I edit or delete a comment, forum post, or playdates?
Tap on the three dots in the upper right hand corner.
Am I able to report a user if necessary?
Yes, you are able to report someone by going onto their profile and pressing “Report” in the top right hand corner. Please type in the email the reason for reporting the user.
Soliciting is prohibited on the app. Please report any unwelcome solicitations.
Can I share this app with a friend?
Yes. There are many ways that you can share with your friends. Go to the “Home” screen, then select “Invite” on the bottom menu bar. Then select how you want to invite your friends (email, SMS Text, or Facebook). Choose the friends that you want to invite. Here is a screenshot.
What can I do to help spread the word about MomCo?
Yes, we love giving away free stuff to moms. The Giveaways section is in the app and can be accessed from the Home screen. You must press “Enter” into each giveaway that you want to enter and follow any other directions that is included in that specific giveaway. Click here to learn about the latest giveaways on MomCo.
How Safe is MomCo?
We have done everything humanly possible to make MomCo the safest place for moms to connect and share their honest feeling and needs. Moms can register via Facebook or email. Both include a verification process. There is a Report button on the top of every profile so if there is a suspicious character of if someone is soliciting, please report them so we can review the situation. Do I have to use my full name in my profile?
No. Once you are registered you can edit your name to be whatever you like. Go to your Profile and click on “Account Data.”
Why am I getting a Log In Error when I try to log in with Facebook?
Make sure you are logged into Facebook on the device you are registering on. If you had the previous version of the app and are still getting this please contact us for assistance at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Why aren’t there any moms showing up?
If you didn’t allow the app to access the GPS in your phone when it asked you, you must set your location to your ZIP CODE or update your GPS in your profile. If you have done this and moms are still not showing up, go ahead and use the invite feature to have people join you on the app. This app has just recently launched so other moms in your area might not know about it yet. Help us spread the word!
What do I do if I am stuck in a screen or the app keeps crashing?
Make sure you have set your location within your profile. Try force quitting the app and try again. If you have tried and it is still crashing, do NOT delete your account. Simply uninstall and reinstall. All your info will still be there. If that doesn’t work, please contact us at email@example.com.
I initially clicked to NOT let the app access my contacts. Now I would like to let it do so. Is there a way to turn that feature on?
Notifications are small messages that indicate activity on your MomCo account. You can view notifications by clicking “Notifications” (the bell) on the right of the app. Once you read the notification, it will disappear.

How do I turn on Push Notifications to receive information about cool things in my area or from MomCo?
We encourage all of our users to enable “Push Notifications” on MomCo so that they can stay informed of child-related events, contests, and giveaways that are happening. The process for each phone type is listed below:

When was MomCo founded?
The MomCo App was founded on January 27, 2014. It officially launched on April 2, 2015.
Where did MomCo start?
MomCo is a San Diego based startup.
What was the inspiration for the MomCo App?
The MomCo app was created by Jillian Darlington. It was inspired by her own struggles as new mom trying to connect with other moms in her community as well as her experiences as a small business owner of an indoor playground trying to find a way to advertise to her target demographic that was within her budget.
How do I delete my account?
Click on “Settings.” Click “Delete My Account.” This will delete your favorites, messages, etc. NOTE: Uninstalling the app does not delete your account.
