This little herb garden is perfect for decks, patios, and table tops. It’s also a perfect starter garden or small space garden. We live on a 20 acre farm but growing a garden is near impossible with the elk and deer always grazing. They eat anything and everything! I have this hidden on our upper deck.
Things you’ll need:
Fill each jar with an inch or so of rock. The plants need this to drain! Do not skip this step!
Plant each herb or flower into a jar. My local store was lacking in herbs so I filled in with a couple of tulips. I planted oregano, thyme, mint and parsley. Other great additions are basil, rosemary and chives.
Then fill out your garden stake with the coordinating plant name. I prefer to use a chalk marker for outdoor projects because regular watering won’t wash it off. It can even withstand Washington rain!
Now all you have to do is arrange the jars in your container and find the perfect spot for it!
I’m excited to start cooking with fresh herbs! Do you have a garden? What is your favorite thing to grow? We are hoping to find a spot to put in a few raised beds this year. Hopefully we can keep all the critters out of it!
